Halo Monitoring to Unveil its Innovative Senior Independence Solution, myHalo, at CES
Posted by Chris A. Otto in Press ReleasesHuntsville, AL (January 8, 2009) – Halo Monitoring, Inc., today at the Consumer Electronics Show and Exposition in Las Vegas, introduced wireless healthcare technology that delivers an unparalleled level of independence to seniors and their caregivers.
myHalo is an innovative healthcare solution that wirelessly transmits secure vital signs, activities of daily living, and critical event information (such as when a user falls). Unlike other monitoring strategies in the past, the system immediately detects when the user falls and automatically transmits that information in real time without prompting by the senior.
The Halo device is worn invisibly under clothing, to preserve privacy, and flexible messaging content provides a variety of formats for informing caregivers and family members, including e-mail and immediate text message alerts. Secure information can be viewed by assigned caregivers and authorized family members through a standard Web browser on any personal computer.
“Fall detection is quickly becoming a new vital sign for monitoring health and independence of an aging demographic,” said Meridian Health (NJ) Corporate Director and industry expert on technology for aging seniors, Sandra Elliott. She continued, “myHalo provides the first user-friendly option for seniors who are at risk for falling in their home.
The first application of this technology is for the independent senior; however, it is also expected that there will be facility-level applications in the assisted living and rehabilitation communities, as well as in the acute care hospital environment.
Chief Executive Officer of Halo Monitoring, Chris Otto, stated, “We are very excited to introduce myHalo. This is just the beginning of the Healthcare Unbound evolution. A growing trend is that traditional U.S.-based payers are becoming less responsible for healthcare spending. This, combined with aging demographics, will lead to more products like myHalo targeting senior consumers.
Chris Otto concluded, “We believe ‘hospital avoidance’ will become much more than a catch phrase and will cause the healthcare delivery system to seek precision alternatives to delivering care in a proactive, preventative mode. Halo is well positioned to serve these shifts in global healthcare delivery.”
