Among a plethora of gadgets meant for entertainment as well as being connected, here’s a medical gadget that has surfaced at the CES 2009.
Exclusively designed for the old and the disabled, MyHalo is a wireless devise that helps to keep a tab on the vital systems of the body. It is a personal monitoring and emergency response system that needs to be strapped across the chest. A wireless gateway for transmitting data to a secure server and a web-based interface to facilitate continuous monitoring is also a part of this system. Since it can send vital data to a wireless router, this device is a boon for docs and medicos. If the user falls, within eight seconds an alarm sounds on the router and alerts go out to the caregiver and an operator to send help. The company also claims that an iPhone app is on horizon.
