Health Data Management

September 14, 2009

Halo Monitoring Inc., vendor of the myHalo patient monitoring and personal emergency response system for homebound patients, has integrated the application with Microsoft HealthVault.

The integration enables patient vital signs and other health status data to be imported into a personal health record. The myHalo application includes a chest strap monitor that collects such data as skin temperature, heart rate, activity level and wake/sleep patterns. The data is wirelessly transmitted to a gateway device in the home, which sends the information to secure servers at Halo Monitoring.

Data indicating a problem, such as highly elevated skin temperature or a fall, triggers alerts to the vendor’s call center and designated caregivers. Data in the vendor’s servers is available to authorized users through a secure Web page. Now, homebound patients also can have the data populate a personal health record on HealthVault.

More information is available halomonitoring.com and healthvault.com.
