Adds New Features, National Availability, and Dealer Expansion
Huntsville, AL (November 10, 2009) – Halo Monitoring, Inc. (www.halomonitoring.com), manufacturer of wireless healthcare technologies, has expanded its offerings and technologies in 2009 to enhance the myHalo product and service. myHalo is a personal health monitoring and alert system that immediately detects when a senior user falls and automatically transmits the alert to both the casual and professional caregivers, as well as Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
Halo Monitoring is on exhibit this week inside the AAHSA Idea House at the 2009 annual AAHSA Conference. Attendees can see the myHalo system demonstrated live at this exhibit
“We developed myHalo with the goal of allowing seniors the option of living at home for as long as possible. Many nursing home admissions are for low level care needs and we believe that many of these admissions can be diverted or avoided all together with the use of proper remote monitoring tools.” said Chris Otto, cofounder of Halo Monitoring. According to a recent study by the British Medical Journal, manual panic button alarms are not activated in 80 percent of fall incidents. “myHalo fulfills the need of an automated fall detection device, and Halo Monitoring’s growth is a testament to this need.”
Halo Monitoring highlights of 2009 include:
- myHalo product launched in January of 2009.
- Expanded the product to include standard phone line capability.
- Introduced the myHalo Clip, which resembles a small belt-worn pager and delivers advanced human fall detection technology.
- Connected myHalo to Microsoft HealthVault, an online health data repository enabling approved users, including family, caregivers and professional healthcare providers, to access their health information securely and on demand.
- The Halo Monitoring Authorized Partner program continues to expand nationwide, with a strong presence in Illinois, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Arizona.
The myHalo user wears their choice of a simple belt clip, a comfortable unseen chest strap or an undergarment vest. All three options allow activity monitoring (caloric expenditure, step detection, and sleep patterns) and the unprecedented ability to detect when a senior user has fallen and needs help. The strap and vest options also include the ability to measure heart rate and skin temperature. While authorized caregivers receive a text or phone alert in the event of a panic or fall, they can also use a secure web page to access their loved one’s health information and check in to make sure they are safe.
