Richard’s mom fell in the yard.
Richard is 70 and his mom is 90. Richard is very conscientious and has moved his mother into a small apartment he built for her in his house. When his mother fell, Richard was home, but he was asleep. His mom was up early walking around the yard. She fell and began to yell. But, she is very frail and her voice is as frail as she is; so no one heard her cries for help. She lay there for several hours before a neighbor noticed and was able to help her and alert Richard.
Richard travels a lot and has someone looking out for his mother when he is not there; but even when he was home, he realized he needed help watching over her. So, he called Halo Monitoring for the myHalo automatic fall detection. When we sat at his kitchen table, we quickly realized convincing mom of her need for a myHalo was not going to be easy. She crossed her arms and very firmly stated that “she did not want or need that thing!” It was Richard who finally convinced her to try myHalo. He kept telling her that she had to have something to protect her because he couldn’t be there every minute of the day. He told her he needed to know she was okay when she was in the shower or in the yard. She kept saying no. Finally he said in a firm, loving tone, “Mom, you have to have something more, and myHalo is my choice. I want this for my peace of mind. Choose this or choose something else, but you have to choose something.” She unfolded her arms and said with the sweetest smile on her face, “Okay, I’ll take this.” Richard’s mom quickly became a faithful wearer of her myHalo.
However, we are sad to report she recently became very sick and is now bedridden, too sick to use myHalo. We wanted to express a special thank you to you Richard and your mother for putting your trust in us by allowing us to serve your monitoring needs and allowing us to share in your very loving exchange that has positively impacted our staff. You had options, and you both chose us…. and we are so glad you did.
