myHalo Tip 2 – Track activity as a health indicator
Posted by Chris A. Otto in Halo BlogHere is another tip for myHalo users. See the first tip here.
Personal Activity Monitor
Both myHalo Complete and myHalo Clip include the ability to track activity and monitor steps. Personal Activity Monitors (or PAMs) have become popular for fitness minded individuals; however, they are equally important for independently living seniors.

Stay Active
Everyone is encouraged to stay active. Elderly, especially, are encouraged to get active and stay active. Walking has a number of benefits such as maintaining balance and muscle tone to prevent falls. The ability to track and record steps and view charts that are automatically generated is a big help in reaching your goals. Always consult a physician before beginning any exercise program.
Watch for Mobility Declines
Mobility decline can be caused by depression, onset of illness or a variety of other reasons. Paying attention to activity levels and detecting changes can provide advance warning of changes in health. If the activity levels recorded with myHalo begin to drop, talk to your loved one. See if you can identify the reason for the lowered physical activity. Not all decline in mobility indicates a serious health concern, but if the problem persists we recommend seeking a physician’s help.
