Halo In The News

In May 2011, EOMHawaii promoted the myHalo alarm in a post on fall detection and awareness.

Halo Monitoring’s mission is to help seniors remain safe, healthy and independent so they and their families can enjoy their lives to the fullest. Our myHalo system is the first medical alarm that sends an automatic alert– no need to push a button – in the event of a fall. While most medical alarms are only able to react to an emergency, myHalo is the first system of its kind to provide 24/7 activity and health monitoring. Seniors get proactive care when they need it, while remaining independent.

Posted on May 13, www.searcheldercare.com featured an article of the advancement of technology for long distance caregivers featuring the myHalo medical alarm.

The roughly 7 million Americans who are long-distance caregivers share a constant worry: what if something happens and I’m not there?  Seniors prefer to live at home where it’s safe, comfortable and affordable – but someone with the ability to help needs to be close by, just in case. The reality is no matter how careful family members and caregivers are in making a home safe, falls and accidents happen, caused by everything from uneven floors or throw rugs, to mobility and stability issues, medical conditions and even reactions to medicines. The statistics are alarming.

  • One out of three seniors falls each year.
  • Forty percent of all seniors or 12 million people will fall this year.
  • In 2007, 18,000 older Americans died from fall related injuries.
