The Laconia Citizen has included myHalo as part of a new wave of technology that can aid those who care for the elderly.
Some companies already have systems that allow adult caregivers to monitor loved ones from far away. One such company is Halo Monitoring Systems, a Huntsville, Ala.-based company that distributes nationwide.
Chris Otto, chief executive officer of Halo Monitoring Systems, said the idea for the myHalo monitoring system came to him as he watched his own mother care for his elderly grandmother. ”My mom wanted my grandmother to maintain her independence,” Otto said. He began looking for an emergency response product that might help. He said that, at the time, around 2006, no automatic systems were available.
“I was disappointed,” Otto said. He said his system works much as most current medical alarm systems, except that the client, who may be incapacitated after a fall, does not have to push a button.

Splash Magazine writer, Ruth Davis gives myHalo a thorough product review and comes out feeling better protected.
I am 97 years old living with my children in a two-story home and obviously I need to have some kind of device. For my last birthday I was given a “ myHalo Monitoring Device”.
I was told that this was far a far superior device compared to the pendant I have been using for years. The pendant would be of no use if I were to become unconscious, or be unable, or unwilling to press the pendants button. Even with this knowledge, I was uncomfortable with the thought of a new device, one that I was sure would be uncomfortable as the best monitoring is done with a strap that would be over my chest. I was sure that I would need to change to the belt model that is also available. However I was motivated to try it out because in addition to being a kind of alarm device, it is also a monitor.
