Automatic Fall Detection

Our mission is peace of mind, and at the heart of this is a technology that we have pioneered at Halo Monitoring – Automatic Fall Detection. Falls are the leading cause of fatal injury among seniors  and the primary reason that most medical alarms / Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS) are purchased today.Unfortunately, PERS pendants are not effective if your loved one is unconscious, unable, or  unwilling to press a button.  Studies have shown that in 4 out of 5 falls, manually activated medical alarms are never activated. The myHalo fall detection system is unique in that your loved one doesn’t have to press a button.  Our wearable devices are equipped with state of the art fall detection technology.  The devices use solid state accelerometer sensors and proprietary, low power, advanced motion signal processing techniques that allow myHalo to detect falls in situations not previously possible such as:

  1. Detecting falls that do not leave your loved one in a horizontal position (e.g. propped against furniture or a wall)
  2. Eliminating the need to remove the device when reclining in a chair, sofa, or lying in bed.

In contrast, tilt sensors have a “horizontal lie” requirement, which means a senior user must remain inactive and horizontal. This is not always how people fall.   A fall can injure your loved one regardless of the final resting position.  Further, there are many normal activities that require you to be horizontal (such as reclining and sleeping). These activity restrictions limit your ability to enjoy life to its fullest.  myHalo fall detection technology addresses both issues.
