myHalo for a loved one

myHalo is helping seniors all over the world maintain their independence and remain safe and secure at home, while providing peace of mind for those who care for them. If you are like many caregivers and are unsure if your loved one needs a medical alarm, learn about the high risk of falls in people over 65, and about myHalo’s automatic fall detection.

myHalo's 24/7 activity monitoring detects a fall without the push of a button.

Caring for a loved one is not easy.  It requires sacrifices at work, with your immediate family and your social life. Studies have shown that those who care for an aging parent or loved one are much more likely to suffer from chronic stress, and other health problems. But it doesn’t have to be so hard. There are ways to lighten your burden and ease your worries when caring for a loved one, and having the peace of mind that they are safe when you are not there. myHalo offers support to caregivers with its automatic fall detection and activity and health monitoring. With myHalo, you and your loved one can enjoy life without the worry.

Why myHalo?

  • 40% of all people over 65 will fall this year.
  • Falls are the #1 cause of death among seniors over 65.
  • If a senior over 65 falls, the first four hours are the most critical. Serious consequences such as dehydration and pressure sores can occur over a short period of time.
  • 4 out of 5 seniors who use a traditional manual medial alarm with a panic button are unable to push the button after a fall.
  • Manual medical alarms do not provide the necessary protection in the event of a fall.
  • myHalo is the first advanced medical alarm that detects falls, activity levels and health issues.

While most medical alarms are only able to react to an emergency, myHalo is the first system of its kind to provide 24/7 activity and health monitoring. The myHalo Complete ™ that comes with the chest strap transmitter can even detect if there is an elevated temperature or extended, accelerated pulse rate. All information is displayed on a password-protected, secure website for remote monitoring from anywhere in the world. Your loved one can get proactive care when they need it, while remaining independent. And even when you are not there, you have the peace of mind knowing that they are safe.

How does myHalo work?

  1. Following a fall, myHalo’s automatic fall detection immediately alerts the emergency response team and caregiver.
  2. Caregivers will be notified via text, email or a call from myHalo’s 24/7 professional call center, depending upon the caregiver’s preference.
  3. If the fall is serious, an emergency team is sent to the fall site to immediately attend to the senior.

    What caregivers say about myHalo:

“My mother resides in a memory care unit in an assisted living center in the Dallas area.  She has been wearing myHalo since early September of 2009.  It is a great relief knowing that we now have a very quick and accurate means of knowing if mother has fallen.  In the past, she has fallen and has been unable to push the button on her PERS or pull the call string in her room, thus laying on the floor for over an hour on at least two occasions.  Now when she has falls, the staff is in her room within just a few minutes.  Also, with myHalo I get notices when she is not wearing the device or when the battery needs to be charged.  An unexpected feature of myHalo is the continuous monitoring of her heart rate and her activity level.  From these features we have learned that mom’s heart rate has serious drops at various times during a day and she gets up at night more than we expected.  I feel like we are really getting our money’s worth with myHalo.”

    C. Couch about her 87 year old mother

    Dallas, TX

We previously had a well known emergency response call button system.  My husband fell on two occasions and was too distraught to think of pressing the button, therefore he laid on the floor for around two hours. I searched the Internet for anything that could help me be alerted if he should fall.  Thankfully I found you and Halo. The myHalo strap is simple to use, comfortable, and he pretty much forgets he has it on. It has brought me a tremendous amount of peace of mind when I am at work, and he is home alone.”
